All Things Aslide: VD013
by admin on Aug.23, 2009, under Drift Events, Media Coverage
With high chances of rain, VD013 turned out to have ideal conditions. There was a cool 75º slow breeze, Hyphy music in the air, a ton of local supporters and most importantly the sun was down. Families and friends of drivers came by the dozens to show support and wrench on cars in the pits. Local car clubs: Sin City Z, LVMazdas.com, NV240sx.org, GZcon.org, and LVScions added much vehicular eye-candy to the pit area.

Track construction started at noon with the help of Ray B. Brian, Michelle, Mello, Wes, Ace, Chris Finch, Royal Flush Ray, Mick, Paul, Robert C, AJ, Josh G, Nick D, and Tommy Suell (Track Designer). Ray Berlo (Safety Steward) headed the “FD style” driver’s meeting which was followed by a two hour drift clinic. To conclude the clinic, GPSCity.com sponsored a “Flip A Bitch” contest in which VegasProAm judge, Robert Chin was triumphant. He was awarded a Go-Pro wide angle portable video camera and a RamMount suction set by GPSCity.com.

Run groups ran smoothly all the way to 1am. Special thanks to DJ Anthony Del Rosario, who helped to provided a great atmosphere and kept the drivers informed. The music stayed knocking with bass that shook car windows and blurred rear view mirrors with the PA system provided by Chris Brown. Tommy Suell, Forrest Wang, Josh Guild, Chase Goodman, Shawn Coward and Mike Bolanos put a show on with countless jaw dropping tandems. Many of the avid drivers like Dustin Amatori and Waylon Deno also laid down some impressive runs that had people talking. Chase Goodman and Scott Acuel made it out from Arizona to link the track. Even videographer, Josh Herron was was getting some seat time in his S14. To top the night off, D1 driver Forrest Wang exhibited some excellent car control with a crowd smoking rodeo on the main sweeper!!
