RACING AT NELLIS: Drifting down the flightline

Story From The Las Vegas “View” Published on Oct 14th 2009

Cars converged on the Nellis Air Force Base flightline for a motor sport event that included a car show, cars drifting in a mile shoot-out and driving in an autocross, Sept. 27-28.

Drifting, a racing style with origins in Japan, features drivers skidding rear tires at top speeds in the turns as they maintain vehicle control. Winning isn’t about crossing a finish line. It’s more about style than speed.

Event sponsors included Vegas Drift, the Sports Car Club of America and United Services Automobile Association.
