i think the one thing i would have done differently is kept the a/c.
even if it was getting a cage and would be seeing track duty in the future.
It would have been nice but it orginally never had the two lines from the compressor to the cabin.  Plus It'll be a joy ride car.  Got my other dailys with AC.  lol.  But I guess not on one, cuz I have to count on moving air due to riding a bike.  I do sweat my a$$ off at a red light in the middle of summer!  Also I thought maybe tubs in the future, but naw.  It'll be fine.

tubs are a waste of time imo.
when in comes to bikes in the summer, nothing helps.
it maybe not even worth it sometimes.

Alrighty, good news!  I wanted to restore and bring my valve cover back to life by powder coating.  So I asked around and AhoAmeko refered me to Ram Pro-Line as he used them in his build thread.  Yesterday on my way to work they gave me a call that it was done!  The ol Red Top has it's shine back!  YAY!!!

After cleaning the head and block up this weekend it's looking good.

I got a lil ansty and wanted to see what it'd look like with the TOMEI spark cover on (lol) motor has been missing it and since I'm going to actualy use TOMEI products and not only the cover, I thought it's a nice lil touch.  But back to topic, thank you AhoAmeko for the recommendation and Ram Pro-Line for their quality and service.

Next up will be to get the gaskets (all off them) for the valve cover and new washers and nuts for the valve cover stay tuned.  Until then it Simple green time!  Cleaning more crap.

Also here's 2 more pics of after I stripped the cover and before the powdercoating.  Should have posted it before hand but oops!  lol  Don't mind the spark cover and intake manifold.  On that day I just received both and wanted to see.  And yes it's a real GREDDY intake mani.

This weekend I towed my project to my paint and body guy.  Dropped off and will have to wait a bit since he has 2 more vehicles to do before mine.  Plus he has a main job and does everything else when time is avail.  More to come on the paint and body work.

Need to fix that bondo up and make the lines flow

Finally gutted the harness after I rewired it.

Clean bay

In the mean time back at home after hosting an eventful Halloween party on saturday night.  I spent the next day recovering and working at bit on the motor.  I brought on the upper oil pan and scrubbed her up and got her ready for install.

Before

After

Clean baffle

And then I got around to removing the oil pick up tube and replacing it with a S14 pick up tube.  I hear it's a upgrade and by looking at it, I'll say it is.  Plus its piece of mind to replace the old with new.  Be warned if you do change it out, going to the S14 pick up will be PITA if you still have the upper oil pan, baffle, and another plate.  But seeing as I already had it off it was easy.  you'll see in the pics.

Old S13 pick up (note the mouth)

stock mounting location (note where the bolt attaches)

New S14 pick up (bigger mouth)

Alrighty now to put a new gasket on

This is now where it mounts!  Good luck and have patience!

Or you can lower the other baffle and get easy access with a extension and rachet like me!  WIN

Looking better already

Now time to seal her up and tighten her down.  I used Ultra black for the sealant

Wells that's it for now.  I got more packages that arrived and I also have to now clean house!  Hope everyone had a good Halloween.  Later

Finally on leave for a month.  Time to try and crunch down and do as much as possible.  Today's agenda was the oil pan to go back on.  The little ass OEM oil pan scares me so instead I opted to change to GREDDY's oil pan.

Suprisingly even the box says oops.  With all the packing peanuts inside everything was fine!

Install is pretty much straight forward.  Just remember to install the plates.  Can't get 'em mixed up since it's fool proof.  One is smaller than the other.

installed.  Just remember to have a clean surface and seal her up.  OEM bolts get replaced with hex head bolts.

As the sun starts to go down.  I finish up with the motor mounts and turbo install with new lines!  I still had the stock hard lines for two of 'em.  But I post up the pics tomorrow of the exhaust manifold and turbo install.  Until then enjoy!

Wanted to clean it up since oil was dripped down on it.

Location for the passenger side

Installed and then went to the other side and installed the driver side mount.

You might have also noticed the oil adapter.  It's a TOMEI N2 oil block adapter.    I remember that there was so much oil around the OEM oil plate and the GREDDY oil plate adapter.

As you might have noticed I put up the part #'s for anything just incase anyone bothers to buy the same part or even if they need an OEM replacement.  Just a courtesy.

I forgot to take pics of the install but it's pretty much self explanatory.  TOMEI included OEM seals for the two in back.  In case you need the part # for them they are 15066-5E510.  I bought two to fix the problem but saw this TOMEI for such a good deal I snagged it up.

Side by side comparison.

The orginal Oil Pressure sending unit is so much bigger compared to the new replacement I got.

Alrighty it's 2 am in the morning and I promised you the rest of the pics.  I ran into a lil snag with my turbo that's why.  FML.  I had to get the center section reclocked just a lil bit so that my water line can clear where you mount to the manifold.  Tried and tried but after much cursing and couple of beers and ahem..... sobering up to drive.  I went down the road to SPINTEK and talked to J.T. who hooked it up and set it right for me.  Thanks goes out to J.T. and everyone at SPINTEK for the help.  Now the pics may not look quite in order due to I was expecting everything to go smoothly.  But bear with me.  Enjoy!

Well finally time to tackle the exhaust manifold and turbo.

I love packages with goodies in them, don't you?

Along with the install I decided to swap out the old hardware for peace of mind and hopefully no exhaust leaks.  OEM washers and nuts.

Old and worn and actually one set missing!  LOL

I decided to go with TOMEI's EXPREME EXHAUST MANIFOLD since I'd like something to compensate for the GREDDY INTAKE MANI I'll install later.  Also smoother flow.

Surface is prepped

7 layer gasket goes on

Then temporarily install mani

To keep everything together and any future removals best to use some anti-seize, luckily TOMEI includes there own with the mani!  YAY TOMEI!

Horrible pic I know, but it's there I swear!

Man who took these pics?  It's like they were a lil drunk or something!  lol  Bottom of mani.  need to install the studs.

Don't forget to use to nuts to install

Alrighty the mani is done now!  Now just gotta get to that darn turbo!  Here's my S15 T28 w/HKS adjustable actuator.

New lines.  They come with all new crush washers.  Just remember to use them on the NPT side and not the AN side, since AN's create a perfect sea inside.  Trust me we use 'em all over in fighter jets.  No leaky, leak.  Unless your jet is older than you, like me, then get new ones!   ;D

I also used some teflon tape.  Again piece of mind and good practice.  Just remember that to put it on so when you install it, it doesn't try to come un-done.  Dunno if that's a good way to put it.  But, I gues you could say installing the fitting is clockwise (righty tighty) then put the tape counter-clockwise.

Fittings installed

Gotta remember the gaskets!  No exhaust leaks here I hope!

Installed.  I forgot to take pics of the installation of the nuts and the lock plates.  I used some locktite on the studs prior to installing the nuts.  Also remember to bend the tabs to the nuts!

Water line routes to the back

Remove hose section and install on nipple

Oil feed line connects here

Missing banjo bolt for now!  On order from JEG's

Water return line

Done!

Time to install the elbow.  I decided to continue to go with TOMEI and use their EXPREM TURBO ELBOW.

As usual double nut method for stud install and more anti-seize!

GTG son!

Now here's a question for everyone.  The elbow comes with 3 bolts that go in the indicated postions located in the pic.

Should I re-install the old hardware for the other 2 mounts?  To be continued since unfortunately I had no new gasket for the elbow!  Boo!  On order though!

On to the oxygen sensor!  I replaced the old with the new since it was pretty much toast and unusable.  Not like I would've replaced it anyway!  lol

The elbow comes with the adapter for the skinnny O2 sensor but why change?  Plus I already had the fatty before I realized the elbow came with the adapter.

Now to finish up the install was the oil drain line.  My old one looks like it's seen better days!

Now here we go again with gaskets.  You may remember this same gasket for the oil pickup strainer.  Yes they are both used for the pick up and drain.  Who knew?   :P

Return hose

Return line

and finally new clamps.  I thank FRSport for having the package deal together and a great price.

Remember that I have a T28 and not a T25 so the hose may be a lil smaller in length.  The hose is made for the T28's found on S14's and S15's.  It might work on the T25, I don't know.

Gasket on like so

Slip hose over nipple and then bolt up and tighten clamps.

All done!

Well I hope you guys enjoyed all this!  Lemme know what you think so far.  Man this one long post and took 4 beers to finish it!  Later

Oh man such as busy day today!  I got around to only cleaning some parts.  Nothing much.  Good day to work in the garage.  That is until the sun starting to set and get a lil chilly.  I'll put up some pics later.  Enjoy the weekend!   ;D

This looks like a lot of good parts and quality work with attention to detail.
Power goals? Any ideas on a tuner?

Thank you I try.  I figure if I was to build I'm gonna use quality name brand parts.  They're already known and proven, but on the flipside it's pricey!  Boo!   :'(  I know that others can make same quality and maybe even a lil better for a cheaper price, but I'm a name brand whore.  LOL   ;D

My power goals for now are around the 250-300 range because I know the internals are still stock and still wanna retain the look of a mild SR20 w/T28.  I know I could go bigger on the turbo but I'll stick with the T28.  My orginal plan was to have the block and head rebuilt.  Over bore the block to 87mm and get the head ready for higher revs, but I got orders to go back to S. Korea and it cut into my time and money.  So now it's piece her back together and get her running.  But as soon as I come back it'll be time to do all that.  Plus I'll have a lil bit more or money since I'll be gone for a year saving $.  YES!!!!

I was planning on going to DDS for a tune since I've been asking around for a bit and found that they are the people to go to and do great work.  I still do plan on going to them after everthing is back and working condition before I leave.

Kyle is really good. I just got done with a full blueprinted block and tune from him with outstanding results. DDS is the way to go.
Good luck with your build
