Its not just reliability a 400HP SR is still not going to keep up with a 400HP JZ series engine when it comes to  down low power. You wouldn't see any usable torque until 4.5-5.5k RPM. 1JZ blocks are also cheaper than SR20s. Their powerbands are also much nicer, smoother, and more predictable. Very linear power similar to that of a V8. They make the same power earlier on without stressing out the engine. The iron block can also take so much more abuse from higher boost settings. Also Lets not forget how awesome they sound too =]

How long have you been drifting on your set up and what do you have on it?
Not a drift car.

That's the secret to reliability.

Thats the whole point, 350hp on an "DRIFT" SR20, reliably.  WHO has one in Vegas?

From what I've seen its mostly KAs and stock SRs, even the stock SRs are holding on for deal life. This heat + drifting + cheap parts = boom.

TBH, I just want to drift ...and frequently. So I'd rather put the money down on a start up and go motor with really good power. To each their own.

I would like to know because I want to run my car like my Hachi, start it up and drift, for at least the next two years.

ditto!

i think you have to be less than 300hp on the SR to be reliable. just saying, my experience is 5+ years with the same set up. and im saying this because I never babied that car ever since i learned to drift on it.

im on my 3rd trans
busted my megan manifold 2011
stock injectors
replaced spark plugs ones
tuned on 91, drives on 110 leaded
s14 t28 boosting .9 bar peak at 1.1
and i keep my foot on the floor.

i like the idea of keeping the motor stock for what I do in drifting. JZ with some bolt on to make over 300hp to me is ideal.

just sayin, i want to see this project done. maybe invest on something like this in the future. then put my SR on the corolla. LOL.  :P

Well looks like I will just have to some what take it easy on my SR.
And get an extra transmission on the side.

Good news, been looking for a good turbo for about a week now, and success! Finally found a turbo for a good price and a good quality turbo. Ordered it today!

It is a Borg Warner S200SX 7670 T4 Twin scroll turbo with a .83 A/R. This should bolt right up to my Doc Racing twin scroll T4 manifold.

Now just have to find a ems and the AEM one from Driftmotion looks like the candidate at the moment. Still looking for better deals, but I think my mind is set on that one.

I just got in the Chase Bays Fuel line kit with inline fuel filter and the 1JZ clutch line kit. Really great quality and looks awesome.

My SR setup will be nothing more then head studs, a head gasket, oil pan, and oil cooler with around 300-325hp on 91 depending on how tuning goes. I plan for it to be a turn key car for the whole season. I guess we'll see when the summer hits but I'm confident that it will stay together.

Chase bays stuff is baller! If I ever get a chance to build a street car a lot of their products will be used on it.

I think you will be fine Robert, thats the same setup that I did on my SR even down to the 91. The tune wasnt holding up that well and cam gear timing was way off, which was the demise of my SR. Once you start going into that 400 range though, it gets tricky. GL to you on your build though.

ChaseBays products are pretty good quality and fit great.  I used their clutch kit, inbay brake line kit and grounding kit w/neg batt ground.  I thought about the fuel lines but I was a lil worried about the lil fuel filter that comes with it.  Looks better though.  Good choices!  :D
