Tommy Suell Vs. Katsuhiro Ueo - Wreck Sequence
April 11th, 2009

Exiting turn 10 in the morning practice session Tommy Suell spun his car around which threw up a ton of smoke along the line of the track. Katsuhiro Ueo missed the yellow flags at the corners and stayed in his car WOT thinking he would drive through the leads drivers smoke and about 5 to 10 feet from hitting Tommy he finally let off the throttle and smashed Tommy’s car very hard which you can see below.

It was one of the harder hits I’ve ever heard in Formula D history and the cars I didn’t think could make qualifying. Somehow Tommy’s AE86 took the brunt of the force and he was unable to run again but Ueo made it to qualifying shortly after this.

This is the aftermath of Tommy Suell’s door from the contact with Ueo as the car sat on track waiting to get towed off course. Luckily that is Tommy Suell’s passenger side door since his Toyota is RHD or that could of really hurt!

Ueo looked a little shook up but the EMT cleared him so he was able to qualify less than an hour later of the accident. His team at Drift Speed did an amazing job getting the car ready for a proper qualifying form.

TOMMY- we all hope you're doing ok!?

Holy Shit!

Cars can be fixed. Drivers are the important piece.

Glad you're in one piece Tommy. See ya when you get back.

Glad Tommy made it away without a scratch!

It was possibly the worst wreck I've ever witnessed at an event. As soon as Ueo missed the flag and kept shooting through the sweeper, everyone said out loud "Oh...SHIT"

Glad you made it out ok buddy! I got some footage of you before the wreck, which will be in the video  Wink

Thank you everyone that came out and supported the team . i was lucky . i wish things could have been different but this is racing . and this happens . unlucky for us it had to happen now lol , i was lucky to get a away with just a headach and nothing more i felt normaly fine the fallowing day . if you every seen DAYs of thunder of cole taking the high line lol thats what happened . kamazi ueo was coming in out i tryed to move foward out the way but he just came into fast past the coner not see the flags in time just a unlucky fluke .

other than that i really like to thank all the support for the vegas drift group.

the car arrives back in las vegas tonight and will be stripped down , a backup shell is being built now and all parts will be replaced and we will head out to atlanta .

Good to see that your okay buddy. Wink  My old shell got killed by an old AE86 guy.  Cry  Hit me up when the cars in town, may want to stop by to see that thing.
