I really think the event spoke for itself. It was great seeing families out there walking around wired up on Monster. Cheesy

LAID OUT

« Reply #35 on: February 24, 2009, 12:28:11 PM »

Mad props to the VD staff and all the instructors who came to give a helping hand. The track layout was exceptional w/ the tight section at the beginning half and then the huge open chicanes at the end. Also those haybales weren't as hard as they were made out to be... and I have video to prove that.  Grin

I know I improved greatly this event, mainly just focusing on not fighting the car and really just guiding it as it went through its natural shifts in momentum while linking the corners.

Also, a couple people have already touched on this, but I just have to say that the turn out today was phenomenal. It was good to see a lot of new faces out there getting their cars sideways. The pits were packed with spectators and family/friends of drivers and there was definity no shortage of drivers overall. You got the feeling that VD was creating a community and not just a drift event.
With the abundance of sponsors, on track tire mounting service, and towing services it seems the vegas drift scene is blowing up.

This was also my first time out, and i gotta give a big shout-out to the VD staff! Thank you for putting on an awesome event!!!! The layout was sweet, safe, and insanely technical!! TONS OF FUN!!! need to save for tires and extra rims tho  Cool
I was in the yellow S2000!!
Hey TJ,
Glad to see you had fun. Did you ever figure out what was going on with the smoke coming out of the exhaust? Your car seemed like it was making good power.

I am the guy in the white zenki s14 that was behind you that one time.
-Trevor

I never figured out what that was all about Huh? I don't think it is anything serious, as it was there...only after 2 or 3 hard runs...and only for a few revs Huh? I think it was just goop inside the mufflers burning off under the heat of runnung real hard as my car is still runnung perfect and making the same power as it was before.

Has anyone else run into this situation??

Joel, hit me up anytime! I am all over town with my job, i can throw my tools in the back and we can link up. just have the pipes u need and some coronas!

For sure man I'll hit u up next week! Also regarding smoke out your exhaust, I didn't really see it but sometimes what can happen with tossing the car around is the PCV can suck up some extra oil from the head and sends it into the intake and it gets burnt... Unless you have a catch can which helps stop that problem.
