FRS street/daily drifter build
« on: June 30, 2012, 09:41:49 PM »
As the title says I am thinkin of buildin my new FRS as my street/daily drifter car. Not gonna do too much to it, and the build is most likely gonna go pretty slow since parts for the FRS are just barely tricklin out right now. Basically gonna focus on suspension/handling for now until some somewhat legal power mods start showin up.

Here she is on the day I got her (pics r gonna suck since the lens on my phone is all scratched to hell).

So far its been fun to drive stock, it takes most of Lee Canyon at around 70ish no problem :)  The car is very well balanced stock, kindof makes me nervous about messin with stuff  but I cant stand the stock ride hight..... 4x4's just arent for me. So I am lookin at either the Cusco Zero3s, or RS*R coilovers. Not cheap but I think I am gonna step up this build a bit more than I normally do.

Speakin of steppin up I decided Rota's arent gonna be my daily wheels on this one either, but I happen to have a set left over from my Skuby. Same bolt pattern, with decent offset and stuff...... so I bolted em on this afternoon after work to start checkin offsets for this thing.

The tires were a bit bigger than I am gonna run, 235's instead of 215's, but I think the offset and width is gonna be about right after it gets lowered with a touch of camber. So I think I am gonna order my wheels and some suspension bits Monday :)

P.S. anyone have a good hookup for Work wheels?  A friend told me to talk to a guy at Work USA who hooked him up on his wrx, but I dunno if I can get a better price from a distributer.

If you can I say go for it, just dont expect it to be too fast stock. Goin from a almost 300 hp wrx to this was a bit of a let down. Just have to get used to drivin a low power car again lol.

And a quick update, ordered some coilovers today. Got lucky and got the only set Cusco was getting. They are supposed to show up at Cusco USA today and I was able to snag 'em first XD Should have them some time next week as long as they clear customs quickly.

Looks promising man. Good luck with the build, I forsee a lot of Cusco in your future lol. Ahomeko was looking at some tail lights for his FRS and they wanted like 1200$ a PIECE for JDM lights.

No pics or parts to update with but just a lil feedback from fridays test & tune........ This thing is AWESOME!!!    Sooooo much more balanced and easy to slide compared to the WRX.  Almost hesitant to install the Cusco zero 3s coilovers, but I the ride hight overrides my sensibility and I am still gonna have to lower this thing. Hopefully the coilovers arent too stiff and I still have some body roll, we will see when I put em on in the next coupla weeks or so.

After work today I finally replaced these

with these

Got too tired after setting ride hight and stuff to do the alignment or take pics of it lowered with the rota's on, maybe 2morrow.

I've seen and been able to check out the Toyota GT 86 here in Korea.  Badass is all I gotta say.  Little differences here and there.  Thinking of gettin one back in the states when I get back but grab some goodies from Toyota here for it

The Cusco's are pretty much maxed all the way down, unless I go too far into spring preload, but I dont wanna add too much really. Already added about 3cm more to the fronts and 2cm to the rears on preload just to get it this low. Also I am not a fan of 18's, but I may up the tire size a lil after I burn through the ones I have to get a lil more fender fillin action.
