SPINTEK

i don't know why everyone is so reserved about spilling the beans about shitty shops? I feel that you should always tell us the name if you have a bad experience. Protect your community, not these un-legit fuckheads at shady shops.

Took my car to spintek and it was running. 3 months later I had to tow my car because it was no longer running. JT was in jail they day I picked it up. Before that he would tell me he drove his customers cars home and to do errands. Everyone there looked as if I caught them guilty of something. They tampered with fuel injectors... Probably replaced it with a bad one. Don't know what else they took.

My cousin also went there and got half his parts stolen from them. He had blue radiator hoses and they gave him back red ones. His story here: http://www.ripoffreport.com/auto-repair-service/spintek-performance/spintek-performance-unprFofess-1e8b4.htm

Just thought I'd share our experince with yet another shop screwing us over.

dook-e makes a very valid point. my turn to share my expierence with spintek.

As some of you may know spintek built my original car. jt was a cool guy at the time. he was young but SEEMED like he knew what he was doing. his worth ethics sucks however. i was told to pay half up front and he would put my car first and not touch any other car. i agreed. 2 weeks later i come back and nothing at all has been done. i started coming and working on it myself here and there at first then on a daily basis. me and jt became "buddies" and he said he wanted to sponsor my car. being new to the town and the sport i was pumped. i drove the car twice and it ran...not very good but it ran. then i left for a deployment. when i was gone the car was sent to get a roll cage. at this same time i had purchased a ford ranger that had a hard life. i needed a truck to move and my buddy gave me his 03 ranger in exchange for rent at my house. all the fluids had water in them and it had been sitting for a year or so after an offroad exursion gone bad. so i gave the car to spintek, gave them money upfront and everything. 1 month later i hear back from my wife that the truck had locked up solid on the highway at 65 miles an hour sending her spinning into the dirt. bottom line is she could have been killed. i had the truck brought to another shop near by. i recieved pictures of all the fluids still with water in them. the transfer case was destroyed. the front differential was destroyed and the rear had the same fate. no telling what failed first but it was all bad, truck was totaled. i had not put registration or insurance on it when it was at spintek however it did had an extra 300 miles on it meaning he was driving it un insured un registered without proper lubrication when i called jt out on this he became defensive and buried himself in lie after lie. i was getting facebook messages from people i didnt know saying jt was looking for me and was going for blood (ok buddy) then the drunk phone calls from peopele looking for parts jt had put on my car. it was a nighmare. i HIGHLY advise staying way clear of this shop and their crooked ways. nothing good comes out of spintek never has never will

Wish I would have read all this before I took my car down there..

Now I'm gonna have to go look @ all the parts on my car to make sure they aren't fucked up. They did tell me they had to drive my car around ( while it was stock ) to run the gas out of it, because it was easier to lower and raise the gas tank if its not full of fuel. Wonder how far you can get a stock 240 on a half tank of gas..

As i stated in my build thread, when I got my car back, 0/3 gauges were installed properly, or hooked up correctly. Oil pressure was not even hooked up, as they told me they did not have the proper fittings and I would have to order additional parts. The water temp sensor that I provided with the gauge was not used, instead the gauge was hooked up to the stock location, which reads an improper temperature, and for some reason the Boost Gauge wouldnt even work.

When the new fuel pump was installed they re-used the gasket for the tank, which had been stretched out about 2 inches in diameter, meaning the gasket did not seal with the tank, making the entire car smell of gasoline while running. They claimed to have test drove it for 50 miles with no problems, leaks, or smells.

after i replaced the gasket, no more gas leak/smell.

The car then started leaking fluid from the heater core, come to find out they used the wrong diameter hose to connect the radiator to the heater core.. Found the right diameter hose and fixed that problem.

When you take your car to a shop who employs a "mechanic" all of these things should be taken care of for you. In my limited mechanical knowledge, all of these things I've had to fix seem like no brainers!

Every time I've called them about one of these problems, they say its an easy fix and just drop the car off with them for a few days. They are located @ the speedway, and I'm on the southwest side of town, dropping my car off is not exactly an easy thing to do..

Personally I'm done with this shop, and look at it like this. I've got a running SR20 that basically is a project car instead of a reliable daily driver.

My car is currently at DDS, and I've heard nothing but good things about them, so hopefully he sort this out for me.
