I wanna shuffle everyday!

« on: October 22, 2011, 05:38:46 PM »

Hey everyone!   Grin  I've just recently joined not too long ago and have been happily welcomed.  I have here my 93 hatch build up.  The car use to belong to a good ol friend of mine I met while we were both stationed at Kadena AFB, Okinawa.  He eventually got orders here and I met him again while getting stationed here back in APR 08.  But now he's somewhere else again and sold it to another co-worker.  Had other projects, but then he left and I now am the owner.  I'm sorry that I don't have original pics of what everything looked like before I tore it apart and gutted it.  But here's what I know was done before the tear down.

1993 Nissan 240sx Hatch (Originally white, then dark blue, and shit green primer, lol)
JIC fully adjustable coilovers (all around)
S13 SR20DET (redtop) and tranny (he brought back from Okinawa)
GREDDY 1.5mm  Metal head gasket
GREDDY Rocker arm stoppers
S15 T28 turbo (remember helping him take it from a S15 back in Oki, lol)
HKS adjustable wastegate actuator
BLITZ BOV
BLITZ Air intake
BLITZ FMIC
OGURA  twin plate clutch with flywheel
SAMCO lower rad hose
BLITZ upper rad hose w/temp sensor bung
FLEX-A-LITE twin fans
GREDDY oil filter relocation kit
GREDDY boost gauge
AUTOMETER water temp gauge
RECARO seats (pass and driver)
NISMO mounts (motor and tranny)
No name strut bars (front and 2x rear)
No name engine dampner

Other than that it use to have a body kit but I sold it just to make the car the way I'd like.  Pretty much my buddy hooked it up to a certain extent.  But unfortunately he had to give it up and I'm giving him updates on his ol girl.

Anywho enjoy the build and feel free to give any advise here and there, name is Duane.  It's my first USDM silvia or 240sx.  My back ground is JDM 98 180SX, 99 S15 Silvia, 89 Skyline R32 GTS-4, 91 Skyline R32 GTR and for USDM 03 350Z, 95 240SX (second 240 after this one, sold).

I'm trying to get everything done as much as possible due to as soon as I tore everything down I received orders back to KUNSAN AFB, S. Korea.  So......., I'm trying to get as much down as possible and back to running order before I leave.  I'll have to pick after then in 2013!  Boo!  LOL.

Pics coming up next

LOL!  Any other day I might just to get something better but it's OGURA and it's barely even used.  Going right back into the car!  I'm going to need it for the plans in store.

Gotta take some pics of how everything once was OEM wise.  LOL  My munki ass would forget one day!

GREDDY sandwich adapter had signs of leaking.  Gotta re-seal or replace seals upon install.

Hopefully some of these pics help others with some kind of OEM config.  Sorry that I didn't take more pics.

Now it's time to strip the car down to a shell!  YAY!!!

Remember how I told ya in the begining how much paint was on before!

Engine sitting pretty on the stand stripped down a bit.

Ugh....wires!

Done!

Pan is there collecting nothing!  Had to put it somewhere since my wife parks in the middle spot and roommates project trucks sits opposite.  lol

Uh oh.....bondo!  Hmmmm.....

Well everything is just about ready for paint.  It was too hot at the time (100's, ugh.....) to do too much everyday.

what is the rationale behind pulling the chassis harness/interior and stripping so much of it to bare metal?
seems like a TON of work. looks sorta like you're building a street oriented car to me (from looking at the parts), will be cool to see someone do that.

Well my rationale, was because I want this to be clean.  pretty much pull up the carpet, remove a small trim piece, open the hood and it all be one color.  That and I wanted no over spray, even some of the best painters paint something more on accident.  When I would strip just one spot it was like a jawbreaker with all the layers of different color and primer.  lol  Plus I also wanted to gut the whole AC system and get rid of unnecessary wires.  It is a lot of work but it'll be worth it to me.  It'll be street oriented for the time being, but after I come back from korea I should have plenty of pocket change.  Plus a lil side trip to mainland Japan should yeld some goodies!

i think the one thing i would have done differently is kept the a/c.
even if it was getting a cage and would be seeing track duty in the future.
