Sup guys. My name is Johnathan. I have been in Las Vegas for about 2 years now and looking to make a home here. I am in the Air Force, though I am getting out at the end of this year. I also graduate this year so hopefully I can land I nice job in the LV area. I really like the drifting scene out here. I have been to a few events, but have been saving like a mad man to FINALLY get me a project car. Last week, I got my hands on the perfect one.

Here is my S13:

It was hit from behind so majority of the work I have to do right now is body work, though it hasn't ran in over 2 years. Hopefully I can get the KA going again or rebuilt.

Here is a few pictures of the rear damage:

So this weekend my project was to take off the old radiator support frame b/c it was Fukked.

We then went ahead and fit the s15 radiator support frame. This took about 4 hours as we ensured everything would line up....

Fun day!

My next project is to get everything mounted. Hopefully this will be a bit easier!

Is this going to be a track car only? If it is I'd save your self some money and resell that S15 rad support and buy some steel bar and make a front end. If you plan on drifting it at all and have never done it before that rad support is for a show car that will never get used b/c good lcuk keeping that thing in one piece at your first event with walls around.

The main goal for this car is get it working and on the street. Thats it. I am in a transition where I am getting out of the military and looking for a job, hopefully close to LV.

Once I land a job and can get my OWN garage, lol, I can work on doing as you said. Though for now, it is just not in the books. This car is in a friends garage...

The old radiator support was jacked to hell along with the radiator its self.

Also, this is my first project car. I think for me, it is best I do not get in over my head while the car is chilling in someone else garage.....

Once I practice enough drifting in open space, I will do like you said and just take that shit out...

I agree with this guy!...You should just buy another shell and swap everything over, to get this car "on the street" you'll be in over your head, especially with a military--->civilian transition and looking for a job etc. That rear end is smashed too...Please tell me this isn't your only means of transportation.

Thanks for the suggestion I guess, but I am set on what I want to do and how I want to approach things. No job is ever to big with the right approach. As far as getting out of the military, it is not much of an issues as I am 100% sure things will work out. I have worked to hard and done to much to fail. I will meet my goals.........

and this is my 3rd car so no rush..

Stay tuned...

These guys are right. Think about those nice parts you'll be breaking at your first event. Even good drifters crash, and you never know. It's your car you decide what to do with it since it's gonna be for you and no one else. Track cars are built to be abused and wrecked, etc.

Meh its whatever, Let him do what he wishes. If he has his heart set on this particular car then so be it. It saves an S-Chassis from the crusher, and even though we don't feel right now there is a limited supply to these cars. Take a plasma cutter to the rear and Tube/Overfender it and call it a day. You're right these cars ARE meant to be mistreated which is exactly the reason he should continue. He would feel much worse knowing he wrecked a clean car.

You are all in fact right. I am not silly to think I am going to sling it around without the proper sports and framing. I know I will hit walls etc. Though the goal now inst drifting I guess you could say, it is later on.

Right now it is more of me learning and working and in the end, the s13 rad-support will have only cost me 300. To me at this point it is no big deal with the larger goal in mind.

Right now, I need to get the car running and in a moving condition. Learn the car, work with the car and then later on tear it apart again and make it track ready. Just my process I have laid out for myself.

I end result will be similar to the tubing that DDS/Forrest Wang does.

This is a learning process for me. I learned how to weld this past weekend. That s15 rad support was my first job, after practices on old metal of course. I want to get to a point where I am a knowledgeable about the s13 in all of its workings. From the chassis to the motor to the suspension. I don't want to just go the the track and be some dweeb who doesn't know shit.

So this weekend, our goal was to figure out how we were going to hang/mount the Rad + Cooler. Just went down to home depot and some brackets and supports. Came out good IMO, though later down the road, I am going to rip all of this shit out anyway to build proper supports for drifting.

personally id go with a solid piece of metal and drill where the mounts need to sit. The whole bracket support thing isnt very strong nor visually appeasing. Starting to come together though.
