Hey Everyone, this is my car which will definitely require some major work. When I picked it up it had an SR20DET under the hood and Megan Coilovers installed. Unfortunately, the previous owner had spun a bearing and the car had been sitting for about a year in a rocky front yard.
To make matters interesting, while loading the car onto the tow truck one of the inner tie rods snapped.
I have so far replaced the front lower control arms, installed TEIN inner tie rods and tie rod ends, installed a five-lug conversion, installed the Brembo brake kit from Z1Motorsports, and got a new set of wheels ( 17 x 8 ) and tires (Dunlops up front and Falkens in the rear). I am considering buying a pair of wheels for the rear but I have a set of 18x8s that might mount up. So far I have done nothing to the rear as I have the car up on stands in the front.
I have purchased a new steering wheel, quick release hub, and short shifter but haven’t installed anything. My main goal right now is to pull the engine and get it repaired. As of right now it sounds like the engine in the car can be salvaged, if not I have an extra motor waiting in my garage on a stand. Once the engine is out it will be off to get the bottom end fixed and later ported and polished.
I don’t really know too much about working on cars but I’m pretty good at following directions and I’m determined to do as much work as I can on my own. The front brakes are a bit much for the projected horsepower of the car by the price was right and since I was upgrading anyway, I’m set if I want to upgrade the horsepower later

if your talkin about the Brake master then i would suggest a 300z BMC with 300z calipers. The 300z BMC alone will give better breaking but the combo is really good. get a extra piston on each side in the front. and its pretty inexpensive upgrade

I would keep it stock. trust me, it's like a brake on/off switch, last minute braking is fun. LOL. YOu can do what S13yaobling said and go with the 300z, but it will make your car feel a bit closer to normal. But we all have 240's...and what's the fun with a normal 240? when building a 240, it has to be...Hella:Bootleg

Well I'm planning on keeping the Brembo Calipers. I'll go with the stock cylinder for now and see how the system works first.
I got my steering wheel installed and after replacing the inner tie rods and tie rod ends, I noticed the toe on the front end is way off (toe out). I was hoping to drive it to get it aligned but I'm thinking with the toe off that much I might have to tow it over.
I got the front end off yesterday and pulled the intercooler earlier. I'm hoping to pull the SR out soon so it can be worked on (just need to figure out how to do it all first).
I'm taking it all step by step, learning in the process.
Tomorrow I'm off to McFadden-Dale for hardware, the previous owner(s) pieced the car together with random nuts and bolts (many of which that are stripped)-it is a major pain having to change sockets so often.

Good job dude! I agree with the Z32 brake upgrade as well, keep the stock feel. None of that Wilwood or BMC Delete crap either. Remember there are companies out there that supply full bolt kits and add 12 point heads to hard to reach bolts as well all zinc plated unless you go titanium. Nice progress so far I'm very interested in this build and another coupe owner to boot!

So far I've removed the intercooler, radiator (man those hoses were a pain), and the CAI. After I removed the CAI I found something behind it that looked like a gasket seal. It was just chill'n in the engine bay. No wonder the previous owner had "engine problems" and parked it. I took a photo of the engine bay up to now.

If you have access to a welder I highly recommend a mid mount set up. It decreases the amount of tubing area and puts the ic up and out of the way encase you hit curbs, cones, or pedestrians. Plus it gets rid of the need to have those holes.

I'll definately be looking into that. I'm going to an electric cooling fan, so that will help free up a little space. Hey, if you want to come help work on it, you are more than welcome... hahaha
Well, welding in a mid mount set up would require new piping too - sounds expensive. Right now I'm saving the cash I have put away to get the motor ported and polished. If the engine in the car can be salvaged, I won't be using the extra block I have and will be able to sell it off.
