idk, i used to daily my s13. then i got a normal car, and realized how awesome it was. Im getting old though.
also my bimmer get about the same gas mileage as my s14, maybe a little better (with 75 more hp and a ton more weight) no highway driving at all. so in comparison, 240's to pretty terrible on gas. Newer car tech is just flat-out better in many cases.

for reference,  350z's also get similar fuel economy. Keep in mind these are 3.0L and a 3.5L 6 cylinders making much more power.

I still love my s13 btw. the fact that i dont drive it all the time just makes the times i do drive it more exciting. I think my 240 actually was better on fuel after turbocharging the ka, likely due to new fuel system and improved tune.

i'd get a DD, but i dont have monies like that lol
plus i cant stand front wheel drive...torque steer is my nemesis  Grin

wouldnt mind better gas milage, but i AVERAGE about 28 (32+ highway) in my s14 just cause of some tweaks and tunes to the motor that i learned from one of my boys in Cali who's been working on 240's since, hell...forever? lol (and i dont drive balls to the wall constantly which helps DRAMATICALLY)

I wasnt trying to aim at 240's specifically. just that alot of the time, super modded cars make poor dd's.
a stock 240 would be just as perfect of a dd as any other car, without question. also that in general, relative fuel economy has continued to improve over the years as auto tech has advanced.
as you said, its not impossible for 240s to get decent fuel economy but, for the average person, this will not be the case.
