Ill be repainting my car again in the near future and am trying to find a location to do it at.  In socal theres a few places that rent out booths for this thing (rent the booth, bring your car, paint it yourself) but im having trouble locating any here in vegas, figured id see if anyone knew of any or had any input on the topic.  Thanks again everyone.

i recall there being a booth for rent off of losee  (like a hotrod shop or something,)
this was a few years ago though, i cant remember the name but i remember it being around $100!
the booth was kinda dirty, but definitely better than spraying in your garage. also it wasnt heated, so spraying in winter time probably wouldnt be optimal. sorry i couldnt be of more help.

Yes I remember the guy as well. I believe Ray painted his coupe in there. Send him a PM if you're serious. If not, Garret at GetNutzLab should be able to spray your car for a decent price.

GetNutz Lab does have a deal going on for paint work, although from how i read that you're doing it yourself.
if you PM me i can put you in touch with Garret if you'd like to use the shop to spray it. there isn't a booth but plenty of space to spray. the only downside is weather right now.  if this is something you may be interested in, just message me!

Yup you guys read it right, Im interested in doing it myself.  Did it once before and learned the "fun" way what not to do and what to do.  Im going to redo some of the body work on my Z and respray it.  Ill be getting some help this time from someone who has many years of experience doing this himself- so hopefully itll come out much better.

Buckey- Kind of curious about what you said but id be a little hesitant.  Id be worried about making a mess without a both, any details on how that idea would work?  Then again without heat id have to wait like pointed out before, I think the runny paint look died out some years ago  Grin

the shop is generally very warm, and as for the runny paint, depends on gun settings, how you mix paint, and spray patterns via the person spraying.  the ideal time to paint would obviously be mid day. we usually check out the weather report and try to gauge spraying aero/cars on the most warm, and clear day possible. like i said there's inside, and outside. for this weather id honestly recommend spraying outside the shop where the sun can bake it for a little.

Get-Nutz is a fully functioning Fab/drift styling shop, and within a few upcoming weeks it should be 100% with paint booth, and tire machine. i hope to have answered some of your questions. if you have any more, or would like to set up a date, or maybe come by, and check it out to weigh your options, please feel free to contact me anytime. 702-205-7426

another fabulous thing about paint/body is that even if "runs" do happen, you can always wetsand/buff them out.... if you catch them early, generally you can take a piece of tack cloth, or tape, and get the majority of it off.... or wait for it to harden ever so slightly and cut it off with a razor blade...
usually when people LEAVE runs after the car is painted is generally due to laziness. paint work is NEVER finished once you're done spraying.... i assume you know this, just stating some little tips ive learned over the years of slaving on cars, trucks, trailers, and RV's painting both inside, and out.

paint sagging on the other hand is terrible, and does make you hate life.... lol but still it's all repairable relatively quick and painless. just depends on your outlook, and drive to have a nice quality job representing your work ethic.

Though it looked pretty good, marvin's car had some paint issues that may or may not have been avoided by a booth. that is all i will say.

marvin's car got the hookup for the price he got charged. there were alot of variables. of which weren't anything to do with it being outside. i didnt spray it, and both forrest and i were skeptical of the end result. marvin wanted a drift paintjob for cheap. the spoiler was sketch idk what happened with that, however the problem is getting resolved as we speak now that garret is back in town. i can get more into detail via PM if you'd like to help get you a better understanding of this issue.

i noticed some flaws with his car after it left at the event that i wanted to correct as well out of good faith, and even notified marvin of this. he was cool with it, and said it was better than he expected from what i recall. it also isnt my shop so i cant bring in cars to repair work that may or may not have been completely up to my standards without paying out of my pocket. i worked for free on his car as a favor to Ray, Forrest, and Garret, to help out. Garret stands behind every car he sprays, and that won't change. both of our personal car's will be re-sprayed in the next few weeks to help showcase the caliber of the work that can come from the shop. i stand behind every single car i prep/spray without a doubt, and that won't change even if i do it for free... i do not want my personal work looked poorly upon.

not trying to sell the shop, because without a doubt any paintjob would have a better end result via being in a booth with an experienced painter. however not all of us want to spend $3,500 to have someone to do it. Ray's car was sprayed in a booth, and turned out like garbage.

this is the point i really want to push as well.
my paint came out like garbage as well, some things would have been better with a booth. many would not since i suck at painting.
in general though, at this time of year, one would be better off with a heated booth.

couldnt agree more. i was just offering services because he may prefer to skimp on payment, and sacrifice quality if its going to get beat up on track. however like i said though, anything can be fixed after the fact whether it's inside or out, raining, or blowing dust... may be more work, but can always be fixed. thats why i love paint/body work.

By all means buckey youve been extremely helpful.  I dont intend to make it a show car but that said id like to do as "nice a job" as possible.  Doesnt have to be hellamadjaydemtyte, but id like to get a consistent color down with as few runs/dust in the coat as possible.  Im in no rush by any means- If theyre getting some paint booths there within the near future and itd be possible to rent one id be VERY interested in that.

To make a long story short- Im just shopping around right now for the most part.  I did a good chunk of work on my buddies sti and getting him to repaint my car is the payment.  Hes got a coworker whos willing to help whos got a number of years experience under his belt doing this and has offered his help.  So my buddy is supposed to be helping out with cost/materials.  Currently hes selling his Sti and getting back into rotaries by getting an FC- so At this point the plan is to try and paint both our cars together at the same time.

Again just wanted to thank everyone for the input/help/offers.  Its awesome seeing how great this community has become again
