Step 1: Change your name to BlueHachi hahaha J/K Welcome to the boards it is in the wrong spot. You want to put this in the technical forums somewhere. I would suggest since youre already swapping motors you only need suspension parts.

Ive never modified a hachi before so I can only be vague because I dont know much about the platform.

Personally what I do before all builds is come up with a goal in mind and move from there. I would say since youre a beginner to focus on safety and seat time and learn the car since it is new to you. Then mod it part by part to find out what suits you and what doesnt. Next I would probably get some coil overs and probably some chassis braces (Like Strut Bar, Sway Bars that kind of thing.) From there its all relative... Though one of the things I like about hachis is the level of creativity you can have with the platform. Ive seen so many cool motor swaps to get more power, swapping out rear ends, all kinds of stuff. Modifying is something you do after driving in my opinion so drive the car figure out what you want it to do or not to do and go from there.

Lastly theres a lot of guys that have corollas here so im sure youll find them. Check out the builds section and try to get an idea there. Good luck man and welcome to the boards.

i would have to agree with ^. The hachi is a complete different car and feel than a 240s and such. It literally feels like a go-cart haha. Anyway just keep in mind with swappage. You change one tiny little thing and you have to completey re-do everything else. i would soop up the 20v just because you dont have to change out tranny blah blah blah. Dude hit me up we can go over hachi shit!

Get a LSD if it already doesn't have one.

There's much more then just putting a 20v in a Corolla. Not only that, but there are 4+ different ways about doing it. It's all personal taste and budget.

My suggestion would just be the LSD and lots of seat time....lowerng springs would suffice for the time being.

he typical order of operations for almost all drift cars with regards to beginners is:
-rear end,seat, suspension
-other stuff (motor, etc.)
-seat time above all else
ive seen people drive pretty stock cars amazingly hard.

well i can tell you the first thing i did was get the car running, if u need a trany both the gts and sr5 are the same only the clutch slave mounting point is different but its easy to overcome, i have been using the t3 coilovers on my car and im happy with them "for now" and a good oem lsd for rims and tires if you are on a budget get some 80s supra rims and some decent tires

for your wiring harness i would suggest checking out ebay, or get a megasquirt standalone computer, others doing the same swap give positive feedback on them

^- Dont forget if you use the sr5 trans youll want the gts bell housing still.  Input shaft bearing size on the sr5s t50 is also slightly smaller than the gts t51s.  Kind of moot overall as far as durability goes, they all bolt together just fine and dandy.

didnt know that.. ive been using sr5 bellhousing and tranny combo just fine for over a year now still runs strong without problems, the only thing to worry about is that the exhaust manifold passes by the clutch line causing it to overheat if not protected

Yup yup ive gone down that route as well when I helped a buddy (well, ex buddy- he screwed me big time on this job) do a gts swap on his sr5.  Im just not a fan of running the exhaust by the clutch line i spose

Dead thread, I know. But Please tell me what a T51 trans is.

Long story short, they are the same transmission. Both bell housings will work. Any "A" block will bolt to either bell housing. The clutch line is fine by the exhaust. Make a heat shield with steel from the home depot if you want. You can always wrap the header too.

I have seen 5 different ways to rout the coolant hoses.

I have seen at least 6 different ignition set ups.

Using the OE PCM is the best option. Just splice into your body harness connector. Mega Squirt and other standalone PCMs are options.

And to bluenismo, this isn't the "wrong place" entirely. It is the DIY section after all. But that put aside, go to www.Club4AG.com . The majority of members here aren't that active. And I'm going to guess there is only about a handful of people here in Vegas with decent knowledge of the 20v engines. That's not an insult, so calm down you thread flamers.

Just remember, ANYONE can say ANYTHING at ANY TIME on the internet. Take the majority of the info you read with a grain of salt.

Good info here. Car specific advice is almost always better. If you owned a 240 I would be able to give you advice like none other. Club4ag is a pretty decent forum.
