Because Drift Car

« on: August 15, 2010, 07:35:23 PM »

all i can really say is that this car needs some serious love. this isnt really going to be a build until i get settled in a little more and actually get started on the rebuild for the SR. so far i havent done much to the car other than change out the shitty non-working trunk for a wingless trunk that i brought back and swap out the exhaust for an HKS Hi-Power.

there will definitely be more in store for this car in the near future. until then here are some pics of the rolling turd. the pics are post trunk and exhaust install. until today i really had no reason to take pictures of this car.

earlier today i was bored and before throwing the exhaust on the car i decided to polish up the tip of it since it looked like total ass.

This is the before shot:

then after the following....

1.) a good scrubbing with a wire brush attachment on the drill
2.) 400 grit sandpaper
3.) 800 grit sandpaper
4.) 1000 grit sandpaper
5.) crappy wet sand job with 2000 grit sandpaper
6.) a decent polish with the Mother's Polishing Cone on the end of the drill

....we have the final product. it turned out ok for the half-ass job that i put into. could have been much better if i had wet sanded at every level, but i really didnt care.

thanks. the exhaust is a little too quiet for my tastes. i have another one that i might throw on and try out. if i dont like that one i might just cut the resonator out of this one and weld in a straight pipe.

you don't need to powder coat the calipers, you can just paint them with high temp brake caliper paint from auto zone and finish it off with high temp clear. thats what a lot of us did, and it works out great.

give these guys a try i havent used them but when i called to get some stuff done his prices were very compable and his turn around time was decent considering the steps to powder coat snailmotorsports.com 702-682-0004

of course i dont have to, but i am going to. i have used high temp paint and i have used powder coat before and i much prefer the powder coat personally.

tried to get a quote from them online and never got a response. the same shit happened to my friend too. also, after reading Josh Guild's build thread i dont think i will be going to them anytime soon. i was recommended another spot so ill let you guys know how it works out.

still waiting on tires man. plus i need to drop the car and i dont have an impact or breaker bar, getting the hub bolts off so i can put the coils on will be a bitch.

on another note, i just bought the 3 hardlines needed to convert my car to non-ABS. also bought a window regulator and a couple other interior pieces.
