More info coming soon as soon as I get the chance to start shopping tomorrow.  Full Drift build on the way but heres a sneak peak. Plans are to do a Full 2JZ-GTE 6 Speed Supra Tranny swap as well as a full caged setup. Im going to rebuild the engine and try to extract 600HP out of the stock bottom end and valve train with a Single Turbo setup and a Standalone.

Hmmm a motor doesn't classify as a build thread... I get the someday part but just don't see the point. It's not like it was something thats been in the works you just wound up with a motor...

600hp is not difficult on the stock valve train/bottom end... Do you know what it's like driving a 600hp car let alone drift one? 6 speed trans? I know you don't have the money to fund this whole thing right now let alone waste money on a 6 speed trans when you could just run an r154...

I know its just a preview... Ive been calling stores all day to start but everywhere is closed. It has been something that has been in the works lol I have a 97' SC300 shell I left in Norcal when I was in school so I figure its smart to just build the engine before I put it in the car. I was looking to buy a whole engine so I got a free one so its saves me money. I do actually have the money as well Ive been saving up to start but I was taking care of other priorities before I got selfish and started on my own build so now I can go balls to the wall lol. V160s are around 3000$ or so used and 6000 brand new.

Ive actually been planning the whole build for like 2 years now but I dont like to start talking I like to start doing hahaha Yeah I was pretty active in the Supra Community back home in GA. I had friends that all drove EVOs, STis & Supras ect (Various High Performance Cars) At one point I almost bought one but I chose an Evo instead but I got to take my pick driving Various Supra builds and Supras have always been a passion of mine. I actually had a swapped SC300 a few years back that was 1J swapped and then I swapped a 2J in but it ended up getting stolen.

I appreciate the tips though Finch! You know im always down to listen but It seems like a waste of money to me to spend money on an r154 only to upgrade to a V160 later on down the line.

I gotta give you a hard time tho cause it was such a weak preview!

If you have been around these motors then you would know that the v160 isn't really an upgrade and especially for the price... The r154 is a fucking tank! Get real here... Good luck paying only 3k for everything you need too...

You had a 1j sc and put a 2j in it? I would rather have the 1jz... That could handle just as much power but with a slightly better powerband for what your using it for. It just makes more sense to go that route and it's less expensive which obviously doesn't matter too much right now.

This all just sounds like a pipe dream and something that would never happen... I somehow have this uncanny knack for spotting the ones that will never get done... Prolly cause I never can seem to finish a project.

serously it's hard enough finding a v160, then if you blow it (not likely but still, what if) then you have to source another, and dump $3k on one?! think long term. either way goodluck. i've seen people do the impossible before so im not knocking you.
i plan on doing a 1j swap into one of my cars eventually and from what i've seen thus far there's no reason to not use the r154. theyre stout as hell from what ive read.

Yah I know Finch Cheesy Yeah Im aware of how strong the R154 is... The first 1J I had was directly from a chaser and came with the tranny. That thing was crazy powerful and I never had any problems. But V160s are also really strong... Come to think of It I dont think Ive ever seen one break... Maybe like the old high mileage ones where you just throw a rebuild kit. As far as the 1J and the 2J goes... From having both and swearing by both cause they are both spectacular. 2JZ are actually more reliable as far as throwing mods and tuning goes mainly for the availability of parts. Technically the 1JZ is a better engine as far as performance but they are really very close in terms of numbers. The biggest diffrence Ive noticed between the 2 is simply the torque that one has over the other one. 2JZs produce more torque. Its all personal preference though.

@ Buckey: Congrats on your win man.... I wish I could have been out there to see it...! As far as the 1J goes man... Do it! I would throw a 1J or a 2J at anything man... They are amazing motors. 154s do rock but like I said in -Elites- post when he was trying to figure his swap out... Driving one is like completely different than talking about one... Words dont do you justice. Ive loved 2Js and 1Js ever since my first time in a Supra.

Update: Im calling a few machine shops to have the block and the head acid washed and decked. Ill have pics of the disassembly in a few hours. I actually did find a V160 in GA that im going to try and have my cousin look at before I buy it... 3300$ Just had all of the rubbers replaced and comes with a flywheel. Good deal!

also keep in mind that it is halfway through the season, i would focus on getting a running car first, driving second, then competing third.
if you plan on drifting alot and competing, you can count on parts breaking... regardless of how few you have seen break in the past.

I agree... I want to finish it and get some time so I can compete in 2011... I fully expect to break stuff hahaha but thats part of the fun and its good learning. Slight update im taking the disassembled motor to DDS sometime today to have him look at it and figure out what needs to be done. Pics later...

for this car to attain zombie status, it would first need to become awesome and die.
only then could it be resurrected into a zombie car.

i dont even consider my car to be a zombie, it wasnt nice enough the first time
