Say what you will about American car companies at least they are earnest enough to do recalls whenever.

"First came the Toyota recalls -- including those vaunted hybrids. Now add Nissan to the list of Japanese auto manufacturers whose vehicles were a bit shoddy off the assembly line. Nissan today announced the recall of some 540,000 vehicles because of problems with the brakes and/or fuel gauge. The recall extends to six Nissan models -- the Armada, Frontier, Pathfinder, Titan, Quest, and Xterra, as well as some Infinitis (QX56). The brake problem is especially worrying. It involves a pin in the pedal mechanism that can come loose, making it difficult or impossible to use brakes. As for the fuel gauges, they may read wrong, leaving drivers to believe they have more gas than is in their tanks, placing them at risk to run out of gas, which would suck on, say, a long desert road trip.

Most of the vehicles were sold in the United States. Unlike other recalls, this one was not prompted after injuries or accidents, according to Nissan in a news release.

The full list of vehicles recalled by Nissan:

VEHICLES INVOLVED
Models and numbers of vehicles with potentially affected brake pedal pins are:

2008 through 2010 model year Nissan Titan, Armada, Quest and Infiniti QX56
178,916 in the U.S., 25,869 outside the U.S. (see box for locations)
Models and numbers of vehicles with potential fuel gauges inaccuracies are:

2005 through 2008 model year Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56
Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra produced between January and March 2006 and between October 2007 and January 2008
418,865 in the U.S., 53,253 outside the U.S. (see box for locations)"

Yeah it just seems shady how the Japanese car companies have like no public recalls threw the years while you hear Ford, Dodge and GM get blasted on the news all the time. Now when the government starts looking into them the other companies are like "fuck the jig is up" and they then do the right recalls.

All this crap is going on because of the government and our economy...

Take out ALL THE COMPETITION.... Whos left?

Top auto manufactures FOR YEARS have been imported/japanese... They totally KILLED the us domestic market... Someones gotta get rid of the rulers (every kingdom shall fall).... And now look!

Fords gonna KILLLL THE MARKET! Next is honda... We shall see..

Fords making a HUGE comeback... As far as I know they have toyota developers or whatever now!

Had em for quite a while actually making the hybrids n stuff.

Its funny to me that all these people are making big deals out of recalls... Recalls have been around since damn near the golden age of auto manufacturing and anybody whos a tech knows tons of cars have things that have been recalled and need to be replaced right off of the line. I think its just media hype trying to make this a bigger deal than it needs to be.

Some people died or gotten in an accident cause of a shim they didnt make publically known but im sure there probably was a bulletin for it on the shop data when the first few people complained about it and it got fixed. I mean sure its a problem but you dont see shit like the alcohol industry getting blasted or anything cause of all the drunk drivers that kill people or get into accidents.

They make a law... all congress has to do is introduce a law where automakers have to take the measures to make sure the dealerships are following up with customers and making sure that people are aware any time a fix comes up. I dunno I think people just want something to bitch about...

I wont ever stop driving Toyota's or Nissan's cause of some media cats trying to make a buck... I say take it with a grain of salt when they tell you Toyota's or any car maker for that matter makes unsafe cars. I hear people are still complaining after they got the fixes from Toyota ^^ Probably some paranoid basket cases looking for something wrong when they get it home hahaha I want to see a car that comes off the line flawless with no production errors.

I agree with you "Slideordie". My point is I can remember ever since I was a kid the news would always say" Well theres another Ford/GM/Dodge recall" . I never heard anything about Toyota, Nissan, Honda ETC. I know there was just as many recalls with the Japanese car companies but no one really talked about them like they did about the american car companies. They had "oh its a Japanese car brand everything is perfect" outlook on them. I think pedal thing really made everyone realize they are not perfect. Thats all.

Absolutely! ^

I have had a titan and ... I DROVE THAT ON FUUUUMES to places never seen! never never land and back, never messed up with me...

And now I have a tundra... works fine! and all is good!

Everyone has a ton of recalls at any given moment...  I remember at the dealerships ive worked at that there has always ALWAYS BEEN a HUGE line for service... Think their all oil changes?

HAA!

the big difference is in how they handle recalls... remember the oil consumption issue with the 350z motors?

Nissan handled it very well being totally upfront. They publicly said

This is happening, if you think you are affected come by the dealership, we will test your car for free. If it is a bad motor, you get a new More Better motor for free.

Anyone ever hear of Subaru having a recall?

It is also very important to keep on the lookout for recalls yourself. Im sure no one has like 40 cars and too busy to look it up. I failed last year when i didnt see that 01 Civic EX has a bad headlight switch where your signal stick thing is. So the damn headlights go out with my family in the car on the way back from cali like 15 miles outside of Primm...pitch black. Thank god the high beams worked lol. I just wouldnt put my life on the hope that a corporation actually goes out of their way to advertise problems.

and no. usually subby is very nice cars. only thing i ever saw was one of my friend in cali. Early 06 STI's have those liquid motor mounts. And yah all of his blew. but they changed it half way through 06 so they didnt have to do a full mass recall. Doubt any of us have this car tho.

4 years ago my titan had ALOT of trans problems.

I had 3 trannies, and 4 rear ends put in, in less than 2 yrs...

After then, TRUCK WAS PERFECT... Nissan took care of me with a baller rental tahoe! and everything for 3 weeks! (couldnt get an armada because it was through enterprise)
