Some days I don't have shit to do in shop so it would be cool to talk shop with some of yall... I had a few questions for some of the members on this board.

1. Being new to the scene I dont know of any places to get work done in Vegas. Where is it most of yall go to get work done or buy parts? More specifically If I needed a Cage done, a place where I could possibly rent a dyno for tuning, places I can get good deals on tires I can destroy, or just anywhere in general you can suggest that a tuner might want to be.

2. Hmmm not so much as a question but if yall need any technical data for vehicles (either repair or tuning) I have access to a butt load of documents and ALLData and Mitchell onDemand here if any one needs anything (I have about 3 more months here then I have to buy my own subscription :[ ) just send me a holler.

3. Do yall still have meets on thursday nights? and lets talk BBQ for when I come home lol... Not that yall know me or anything but after I get situated I would like to meet a lot of the community formally(call it southern hospitality lol).

4. I read about the VD series and I want to know how I can get it... Not really but I just had to say it lol No seriously. Im sure nick has all the info I need but how often are the events held? That drift school seems like a pretty sweet deal. I know a bit about basic drifting but the advanced techs I definately want to learn. Who teaches the class (doubt Forrest and Tommy do too often)?

5. Hmm are yall aquainted with that Vegas Supra club or does anyone know anyone that knows anyone from there?

Hmm I think thats all I got for now but until this douche with the Camaro gets it off the dyno Im never going to get to run the STi So I have a crap ton of extra free time at school lol

Hey Chris, these are good questions.

1.  We just had a dyno session at Doug's Dyno.  You can read the article on the main page.

2.  Alldata is nice, i have used it before, it helps mainly for stock vehicle issues.  There are many different places to get cages done.  If you haven't drifted a few practice events its prolly not in your best interest to just go and get a cage put in.  Until you are ready to tandem or compete you just don't need it.  focus on tackling portions of the track until you can complete it or link it.  Just because a driver has a cage dose not automatically make them ready to line up next to a more experienced driver and try and tandem. There is a certain level of trust involved.  As there is no collision insurance covering driver to driver contact. you break it you pay for it.

3.  I'm sure people still hang out on Thursdays, just not in the same spots as before.  Alot of people have lowered cars and chose not to take them out to Town Center/Underground Parking lots.  We work with other car clubs when hosting BBQ's  -  we are currently looking for a suitable place for a "Parts Swap Meet/BBQ".  Most congregation occurs these days occurs at events.  Events are hosted at least once a month, and a schedule of events can be found on the main page navbar http://www.vegasdrift.com/events  Also frequently visit the main page for news and current happenings in the Vegasdrift Community.

4.  Vegasdrift hosts grassroots practice events - the next event is at Nellis Air Force Base on September 26th.   In 2010 there will be a local grassroots points series hosted by VegasProAm.  VegasProAm is the competition entity under the Vegasdrift LLC Umbrella-  http://www.vegasproam.com

5. I didn't know that a Vegas Supra Club existed, link me so i can check them out!

BTW there are a lot of knowledgeable/opinionated drivers on this board.  Try not to discuss any illegal driving or spots.  If you are planning to hit up the streets do not publicize it here.  I encourage new forum users to read through prior threads and utilize the search function.  If you need advice please don't hesitate to ask, but keep in mind that google is your friend Smiley

You should talk to Eric Shrum - he has a STI with a RWD conversion and frequents our LVMS events.

Will do with the not announcing hitting the streets lol I was pretty sure that wasnt allowed. Yeah I google a lot and I'll definately ask about any drifting techniques cause ill probably need some help. As far as technical and tuning help I can totally help out with that. I specialize in Engine Management and Diagnosis. Hmm RWD Scoobys are pretty cool lol Ill definately have a talk with him someday. I dont own a Subaru but Im starting to like them after being assigned one.

I ready about the session. That looked like a ton of fun Cheesy Did he actually let yall tune your cars if you had a Standalone or some kind of module that could give you live tuning/datalogging? If so thats a total steal for the price ;]

Yeah AllData is pretty cool... I mainly find it useful for like wiring diagrams and the such... Repairing something pesky is cool too lol I was wondering about the cage because once I start my SC300 project pretty soon I figured I would need a rigid body to compensate for the body roll that might occur with all the spring weight in that application. Im sure the Supra suspension could keep the car upright in a drift but I want to keep my options open. Good info about the tandem though, I wasnt aware that at the events there was a competetion. I guess I better get a lot of practice in beforehand lol

Hmmm Im pretty sure im going to be on like every day lol I love the site! Hmmm I know a few people back home that might be able to help out with a place to do the BBQ's and such... I have the event page on the phone now and I twittered VD ill bet you put it up there too Cheesy I might be able to make it to the event on the 26th probably as a spectator though cause ill be on break with the GF, but Id love to meet yall. Im not sure if that club is still around but I dont think they have a website. I just know theres like a few guys that live in town that drive Supras. One having a JDM 94 Supra Black on Black and theres a Red 97 Supra that a guy from AZ drives that they hang frequently. Ill have to try to get in contact with them again but it was a friend of a friend type of situation I just figured someone here knew them personally.

Thanks for all the info I hope ill have something relavant to talk about tommorow hahahah
