LAID OUT

« Reply #75 on: October 14, 2009, 02:01:08 PM »

That scares me. You are running seriously lean. When you hit full boost on the first run it was around 16 AFR.. NOT GOOD. Second run looks like a bad boost leak...

Are you using a D-Jetro or the standard PowerFC?

Here are some base maps for different setups
http://home.comcast.net/~nzo/

Let me know if you want some help, I'll have some free time later this week.

Am I missing something on the graph... How are you able to tell exact AFR at any RPM with that chart, it doesn't have y-axis labels for the AFRs?

i actually was wondering the same thing, went back and looked at the pic, didn't see what he meant. On one run i went from 16.5 at 2800 rpm's to 11.8 at 6000 and then other one from 15.1 to 10.5. So by that logic at peak boost on the first run was approximately 12 and on the latter run approximately 13, looking at the graph. I shouldn't have dropped the boost settings between runs though.

once again that was the last time that setup will ever run on my car though....

this is what is in store:

yeah 90 mm on the throttle body so 3.5" and i think 3" on the inlet. I am 99% positive i am actually going with the intercooler and charge pipe kit from full-race, that way I can bolt everythign right up no issues, and the cold pipe is flanged for my Tial BOV. this one here:

Just by knowing that the max and min values (printed on there) then drew a halfway mark in between them. math wise it's around 16.25. Heres a quick one on yours:

http://www.ddsperformance.com/dyno.jpg

Around peak torque is when the motor has the highest chance of detonation (4300 from what I can see on yours). AFR's should be around at least 11.5's there. The rest of the time in boost should be just slightly leaner, 11.7 or so. During spool (time before max boost is reached) keeping the AFR rich (11.2 or so) drastically helps spool time/lag. All this of course on 100 octane, pump gas would be a bit richer. Your AFR line should hug pretty close to the bottom line I drew and be relatively flat from boost to redline. Sorry for bugging you about it, and I know you were just comparing and testing, but that could have done damage already.

Anyways, back on topic.... Nice choice on the new turbo! If you need help tuning after its in, let me know!!!

nvm I was looking at the chart for the 1st run

Shawn that sounds good. Bolt in is always nice. On the pic you posted it looked like a 4" compressor inlet is why I asked. Your new setup is going to rock!

Wait your gonna pop your motor over this amatuers estimation? Am I reading this right? God dude just shut the fuck up. I would hope Shaun would seek the help of a real tuner with all the money he has invested in his setup.
